My past artistic endeavours

These pieces range from High school (2009) to Junior year at Sonoma State University (2013), prior to attending California College of the Arts.

Sculpture

1. Consume, 2012. inspired by Pop-artist Keith Haring and street artist Banksy, I painted this mural on the door of my room. Its meant to call out the perverted marketing techniques deployed on children in order to get them to consume.

2. Wax & Nails, 2012. Create a 1 sq foot cube out of any two materials. I created a mold and poured several layers of paraffin wax while inserting nails into each layer.

3. Boyhood, 2012. Using my old toys from my childhood I created a sculpture that represented sections of my childhood.

Digital art

Much of digital work uses metaphor and symbolism to create meaning. I use photoshop and illustrator in conjunction to create these works.

Photography

My photography captures interesting shapes, compositions, and emotions. But above all, it captures how I see the world through my eyes. I never stop seeing through the eyes of a photographer.

Drawing

My drawings are based on real life observations. Figure drawings are done in short intervals (5-20 mins), while still lifes have a longer durations.

Film: Life and Death

Experimental film I created using a macro lens and living mold ecosystem I grew. It captures the micro universes we never see.

Film: Munchbox

This was actually a final deliverable for a class. We spent the semester researching topics such as: privacy, brainwashing, and advertizing. In the end of the semester we created this video showing possible future technology and scenarios of how these three themes could be a threat to our society if we are not responsible. We created a fictional service called Munchbox, which essentially monitors your daily activity (credit card payments, activity level, time since last meal, eye movement) and can predict when you are hungry, and without being prompted, deliver food to your doorstep.

Animation: Facts About Food Waste

Using the principles of animation I made a 30 second infomercial about food waste using adobe after effects (my first time using it).

Film: Design challenge, find a product in your room and make a commercial in 2-4 hours.

I made this commercial about post-its. It was so much fun filming this with my lovely friend Summer Harim Park, the actress. It's actually quite interesting and unexpected ending.

Game: Lost in Space

I made a quick simulation, using pixi-js, of what it would be like to be the only survivor trapped in space inside a wrecked spaceship.

Film: Confusion to Manipulation

The goal of this film was to elicit two specific emotions from the viewer, confusion and manipulation, and transition from one word to the other throughout the length of the film. We didn't really plan anything for this film, but we happened to find some interesting things to film regardless. Props to the awesome insect actors. We did not harm the bees in the making, on their own will they were jumping in the pool with us.
